The concept of self-suggestion is part of the book The Law of Success by Napoleon Hill and is considered a principle of psychology through which one can record the main objective defined in the subconscious. In other words, the intention is so strongly imprinted in your subconscious mind that it becomes a pattern or something present, thus dominating your daily activities and taking you, step by step, towards the achievement of the goal, as happened with Thomas Edison when he went from being a humble Paperboy selling newspapers on the train to being one of the best known inventors in the world.
We use self-suggestion constantly through what we say or think. We often use self-suggestion at a disadvantage for ourselves!!! But we can change and reprogram our mind. We can even write our life story and use self-suggestion to our advantage.
Napoleon Hill suggests writing and keeping the objective visible in a place where you can consult at least once a day! In that book, he also mentions some precautions to ensure that the objective does not bring difficulties or misery to anyone, so that it is something constructive and that brings prosperity and peace… He says “apply self-suggestion to the limit of your understanding for quick realization of the goal! ”. Simple isn't it? :-)
We will now talk about the objective, and we will describe it in a word or phrase. I discovered this technique in 2013 with the writer Gretchen Rubin, and since then I use it every year. I choose a word that I keep my focus on throughout the year. At the same time, I am observing the influence and how during that year this concept has a strong impact and provides me with greater growth in this area.
For example, in 2013 I chose the word Simplify. During that year, I got impressive results, not only physically in relation to my house and the things around me (I confess that I did the biggest cleanup ever in my house, removing more than 70% of what I had), as well interior, concerning relationships, profession, personality and decisions.
The following year I felt that I needed a real change. I was disgusted with my life, even after simplifying 70% of my life, I was worried about overdue wages and all the repercussions of that. At the end of some search I discovered the term Kaizen which means "change for the better". And something incredible happened this year! The thought really attracts the things we desire with all the affection and authenticity! I was fired illegally, which opened the door to more good things! So many other changes happened as if my life was on a right track and at the very end of that year I went to Canada, something I would never have imagined possible but that I really wanted!
In the following years I chose Heart Family for 2015, Serenity for 2016 (the year my daughter was born), Love for 2017, Wisdom for 2018 and Abundance for 2019. I confess that this year was really intense in abundance, because I managed, in the space of one year, to exponentially increase my salary and my gratitude!
My word for 2020 was Momentum! Interestingly, it is a word widely used in physics and it means the energy of movement. It may seem strange at first to anyone who doesn't know this term. Momentum is not the movement itself, but the energy in it. The Portuguese word I consider closest is “embalo”, but some dictionaries also translate by impulse or rhythm.
In a more practical context, after a year of plenty of manifestation and abundance, I created a momentum as if a very good slide was going down! The best definition I saw of momentum (after I understood what it really was) was my mentor. He told me momentum is an inspired flow. And the word "inspired" in this context means that its flow, and this includes thoughts and actions, are aligned with the vibration, it is that same vibrational frequency that unites you with what you want to achieve. Surely it has already happened to you that you feel at such a good time that everything seems to be right… you know the right people, you are in the right place at the right time, etc.
My word for the year 2021 is Enlightenment. This focus and development of my vibrational frequency has stimulated a constant flow of insights and inspired actions, as well as an expansion of my intuition. As I started to focus on this word in October 2020, I feel in just a few months more connected with myself and with all the words I have chosen in recent years! I would like to share with you more examples of words that you can consider. Now confirm if any of these words resonate in your heart: Success, Growth, Manifestation, Gratitude, Action, Purpose, Home, Focus, Intuition, Connection, Believe, Creativity, Create, Courage, Freedom, Health, Breathing, Being, Resilience, Prosperity , Change ... Some words work better in English like Upgrade, Offline, ... Which one resonates best for you? Have you already chosen one? Sharing in the comments will surely inspire other readers!
